Estate Planning Options When Long Term Care Insurance is Inadequate
Michael B. Cohen is an elder law attorney whose Dallas law practice focuses on the legal needs of the disabled and elderly, including estate and Medicaid and other public benefits (such as Veterans benefits) planning. He is a frequent speaker on these topics. Mr. Cohen is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is a past President of the Texas chapter of such organization. He is also Past Chair of the Solo & Small Firms Section and the Probate, Trusts and Estates Section of the Dallas Bar Association. He is currently serving as President of the Dallas Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Additionally, he is presently serving on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Greater Dallas Chapter, the Senior Rights Political Action Committee of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and as President of the Elderly Communal Housing at Dallas (ECHAD). He is also on the State Bar’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee for the Dallas region. He has been accredited by the Veterans Administration to give legal advice regarding Veterans benefits. Based on an independent survey, he was named by Texas Monthly as one of the Best Wealth Managers in terms of client satisfaction (and the only D/FW attorney mentioned in the area of long term care) - an honor that he has received the past five years (see August 2013 issue). He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Austin and from Southern Methodist University School of Law and was a member of the honorary fraternity of Phi Beta Kappa.
